The Future of Terroir, and Some Announcements

June 12, 2010

Our quest to bring terroir back to American soil has been usurped lately. Like a great Bordeaux is known to do, the Terroirists are currently going through the dumb phase. Unfortunately these circumstances were unavoidable, but we will bounce back stronger than ever.

Mike the Microbiologist has made it known that he will be moving to Southern California in the near future. By that I mean tomorrow. I will myself (Steven) be moving to the enemy territory in three weeks. By that I mean Sonoma County. Eric will continue to hold down the fort in the Pacific Northwest until further notice.

Together our brain power and geographical distribution will render us juggernaut status in the small world of wine blogging. As the blog evolves our insignificant role has become more clearly defined. We aren’t wine critics — although we aren’t short of opinions, but rather we are wine informers. I plan to spend some time exploring the vineyards of Northern California in hopes of learning more about the interaction of soil, climate, grape and wine. The blog will look different in the future, but we are dividing and together we shall conquer.
